Decision Strategies for Incremental POS Tagging
In an incremental NLP pipeline every module needs to work incrementally. However, an incremental processing mode can lead to a degradation of accuracy due to the missing context to the right. We discuss three properties of incremental output that can be traded for accuracy, namely timeliness, monotonicity and decisiveness. The consequences of these trade-offs are evaluated systematically for th...
متن کاملUltrasonic tagging of light: theory.
A theory is provided for the detection efficiency of diffuse light whose frequency is modulated by an acoustical wave. We derive expressions for the speckle pattern of the modulated light, as well as an expression for the signal-to-noise ratio for the detector. The aim is to develop a new imaging technology for detection of tumors in humans. The acoustic wave is focused into a small geometrical...
متن کاملA rule-based approach for tagging non-vocalized Arabic words
In this work, we present a tagging system which classifies the words in a non-vocalized Arabic text to their tags. The proposed tagging system passes through three levels of analysis. The first level is a lexical analyzer that composed of a lexicon containing all fixed words and particles such as prepositions and pronouns. The second level is a morphological analyzer which relies on word struct...
متن کاملCross-Lingual Tense Tagging Based on Markov Tree Tagging Model
In this paper, we transform the issue of Chinese-English tense conversion into the issue of tagging a Chinese tense tree. And then we propose Markov Tree Tagging Model to tag nodes of the untagged tense tree with English tenses. Experimental results show that the method is much better than linear-based CRF tagging for the issue.
متن کاملA Tagging Approach for Bundling Annotations
In a paper presented at CHI 2006 we introduced structured annotations, called bundles, to support co-authors in the editreview-comment document lifecycle, and we reported a study showing that bundles facilitate workflow by improving reviewing accuracy and efficiency. Bundles are a “top down” way to organize annotations. We demonstrate an enhanced prototype that also supports “bottom up” organiz...
